Why Shoot From The Water?

An image from the water provides an angle that shows what it's like to be in the mix. An image taken from the beach can be good, but it usually doesn't have the "pop" that you can get from the water.

You have to work much harder in the water to get a great image. But the payoff is worth it. You're fighting current, glare and fatigue. When I shoot from the beach, I can get probably 2 to 3 times the images as I do from the water.

But the images just don't have the same energy. Personally, when I shoot from the beach, I prefer a pulled back image. When I am in the water, I like to get up close and personal.
